L’Oreal looks to buy Indian Ayurvedic Brand

The grapevine has it that international cosmetic-maker L’Oreal is looking to buy an Indian skincare brand as consumer demand is on the rise for exotic beauty products. “We would be interested in buying an Indian ayurvedic brand to bring the Indian vision of beauty to the world,” L’Oreal CEO Jean-Paul Agon was quoted as saying recently. L’Oreal’s strategy is rumoured to be to use its new Indian takeover as a launching pad to introduce ayurvedic products worldwide. Many marketers view VLCC as that new acquisition, which would be small — representing as much as 5% of future sales growth in India for L’Oreal.
